Boat registration lookup, state by state

A registration lookup tells you what a state's records say about a hull today. A history report is a search across multiple sources over time. They answer different questions, and confusing them is how buyers get burned.

Registration lookup

Run by a state agency. Free where it is offered, authoritative for that state, and restricted by law in many states — particularly for owner information.

History report

A commercial search across states and other sources. Broader reach, a price attached, and no guarantee of completeness.

Neither replaces the other. If the boat has only ever been registered in one state and that state publishes a lookup, the free route may answer your question entirely. If the paper trail crosses state lines, that is exactly where a multi-source report earns its money — and where a single state's records will quietly mislead you.

Verified state pages

None published yet. The template below is built and the research queue is running, but a state page goes live only after its agency, titling rules, lookup availability and fees have been checked against primary sources. We would rather have eight verified states than fifty guessed ones.

State page content model

Every state page follows this structure. Fields are populated only from official agency sources, one state at a time.
